Why I’m Not “Good People”

Jenny's Library

I’m not a nice person.

I’m not a good person.

I’m not a kind person.

This isn’t to say that I don’t ever try to be any of these three things.  I do, especially the last two.

It’s more to say that, for me, surviving in this cissexist, racist, ableist, heteronormative, classist, often fucked up world of ours has involved rejecting the idea that “good” and “bad” are static states of being.  I will never be a “good person” because, to me, “good” is not something that you achieve.  It’s an ongoing process that never ends.

It is, in fact, almost impossible not to be doing bad things as well as good when you are human and therefore flawed.  Especially when you are part of a messed up system, as we all are.

This, to me, is why it’s important to call out bad behavior, or hurtful language, or even…

Trevor Noah and the Desire for “Other” Blacks

Black Millennials

When Comedy Central confirmed on Monday that Trevor Noah would be replacing The Daily Show host Jon Stewart, there was widespread support — myself included. Only a few hours later, some distasteful tweets came to light, revealing that the South African comedian made some not-too-cool jokes about women, Israel, and Asians.

Appreciate life

This is just me, alive, still patiently waiting to die. My hair black again as it has started to lose its color. Meanwhile, I was sick on February 14, spent valentines day with a nurse, she stabbed me 6 times in the buttocks, still hurts.
At the hospital, i heard about the jail winning an Oscar even without a performance. (dead surprise Oscar Pistorious joke I know, but at least it was worth a shot),
I also heard about the death of one of our Nigerian artiste, at that point, I started to appreciate life the more.
There and then, I realized i always had the perfect gift with me all along, the gift of life, the present! And hope for the future.

I had valentines day jokes, but there was no energy to post them.. So, till next year.

Meanwhile, from happenings here and there,
E be like Cupid don dey stupid lately..

But that’s story for another year.
